The Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (ARCSS) was signed in August 2015 by the Government of the Republic of South Sudan, the Sudan People's Liberation Movement/Army (In Opposition) and the SPLM Leaders (Former Detainees), as well as representatives of South Sudan's broader society, including women's groups, civil society, faith leaders, and eminent persons.

The Agreement is organised in eight chapters; the first six respectively address the thematic areas discussed during the 2014-2015 mediation, including governance arrangements, security arrangements, humanitarian affairs, economic and financial management arrangements, transitional justice, reconciliation and healing, and constitutional reform.  Chapter VII provides the terms for the monitoring and oversight of the agreement through the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC).  Chapter VIII provides for the supremacy of the Agreement over any national legislation, and describes procedures for amendment of the Agreement.
