JMEC Chair holds discussions with President Salva Kiir
The Chairperson of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC) H.E. Festus Mogae has met H.E. President Salva Kiir at J1 on Tuesday.
During the meeting, H.E Mogae commended the Transitional Government of National Unity (TGoNU) for participating in the High Level Revitalization Forum (HLRF), saying the process has “generated optimism” towards the implementation of the Peace Agreement.
He commended the Parties for signing the Cessation of Hostilities, Protection of Civilian and Humanitarian Access Agreement, noting it as a significant step towards “silencing the guns, protecting civilians and ensuring humanitarian access”.
The Chairperson welcomed TGoNU’s participation in the HLRF and the constructive engagement by the all Parties, while acknowledging that “some progress” has been made during the first two phases of the Forum.
