“Since time immemorial, we have known the strength of women in peace and cohesion. This workshop, therefore appreciates the role of women, who have always been patriots and peace-loving,” he said.
During the workshop attended by at least 40 participants, the mandates of UNMISS, CTSAMM and JMEC were explained, and overview of the Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan (ARCSS) done.
In December last year, Parties attending the High Level Revitalization Forum in Addis, signed the Agreement on Cessation of Hostilities, Protection of Civilians and Humanitarian Access, billed as an important first step in the revitalization of the peace process.
“We call upon peace partners, South Sudanese and the international community to genuinely support ongoing peace efforts such as the High Level Revitalization Forum, the National Dialogue and other grassroot peace initiatives, aimed at ending the suffering of South Sudanese,” Deng said.
