The Forum brought together representatives of the humanitarian community, representatives of the Transitional Government of National Unity (TGoNU) and the international donor community.
The forum, first of its kind, was aimed at seeking discuss key challenges facing the Humanitarian agencies in the country and how they can be addressed effectively.

The forum was co-chaired by Minister for Cabinet Affairs Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro who is also the Chairperson of the High Level Oversight Humanitarian Committee and H.E. Ambassador Fessaha Shawel, the Ethiopian Ambasador to South Sudan . Amb. Fessaha is also the Chairperson of the JMEC Humanitarian Working Commmittee.

The forum deliberated in a constructive manner a number of challenging humanitarian issues.

In the forum, it was discussed the need for improved and regular communication on challenges affecting humanitarian workers in South Sudan.

This is to ensure that the right information reaches the right and responsible person to ensure the Humanitarian obstacles are addressed effectively as they arise rather that accumulating them.

It was agreed that the Humanitarian Coordination Forum chaired by the Hon. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs to meet on monthly basis and for the High-level Humanitarian Oversight Committee chaired by the Hon. Minister of Cabinet Affairs to meet quarterly.

During the discussion, it was agreed that regular open, respectful dialogue is the key to resolving the challenges that Humanitarian agencies face in responding appropriately to the significant needs of the population of the South Sudanese people.
